System e Network Administrator presso il Centro Serra dell'Università di Pisa per circa 15 anni. Dal 2016 lavora in GARR come specialista di indentità digitale e sistemi di autenticazione e autorizzazione. Dal 2018 ricopre il ruolo di coordinatore del servizio IDEM GARR AAI, e dal 2019 ha il ruolo di service owner del servizio eduGAIN nell'ambito del progetto GEANT
Abstract
Pilota eduGAIN su OpenID Federation
Le federazioni di identità della ricerca e dell'istruzione ed eduGAIN, il servizio di inter-federazione che collega più di 6000 istituzioni accademiche in tutto il mondo, sono basate su SAML 2.0. SAML 2.0 è uno standard di autenticazione e federazione di grande successo, ma oggi ha terminato il suo ciclo di sviluppo. OpenID Connect 1.0 e OAuth 2.0 sono gli standard di autenticazione e autorizzazione maggiormente impiegati dai servizi IT più recenti, ma a differenza di SAML 2.0 non comprendono metodi e regole per stabilire la fiducia tra gli attori dei processi di identificazione e accesso alle risorse. OpenID Federation è una specifica che colma questa mancanza, e di cui eduGAIN sta sperimentando l'implementazione a livello globale tramite un pilota tra le federazioni d'identità della ricerca e dell'istruzione.

He has been a System and Network Administrator at the Serra Center of the University of Pisa for about 15 years. Since 2016, he has worked at GARR as a specialist in digital identity and authentication and authorization systems. Since 2018, he has been the coordinator of the IDEM GARR AAI service, and since 2019, he has been the service owner of the eduGAIN service within the GEANT project.
Abstract
Pilot eduGAIN on OpenID Federation
Research and education identity federations and eduGAIN, the inter-federation service connecting more than 6,000 academic institutions worldwide, are based on SAML 2.0. SAML 2.0 is a highly successful authentication and federation standard, but has now reached the end of its development cycle. OpenID Connect 1.0 and OAuth 2.0 are the authentication and authorization standards most widely used by newer IT services, but unlike SAML 2.0, they lack methods and rules for establishing trust between actors in the identification and resource access processes. OpenID Federation is a specification that fills this gap, and eduGAIN is piloting its implementation globally among research and education identity federations.
